Flood Watch
On Sat 3/3/12 after the floodgates at Warragamba dam were opened the SES visited the Park with an evacuation notice for anyone living on the Park within a 10 meter contour of the riverbank. They did this for all caravan parks along the Hawkesbury.
We are fortunate that we have no vans immediately on the river. The water didn't come up very far, although you can see by the trees in the photo below that it was over king-tide level. Preparations for a flood still had to be carried out regardless and everything loose which was likely to be swept away by a flood had to be removed. Many will remember the 1992 flood (and some were here in the 1978 flood). The water came up to the floor level of our house and some came in. It was like living on floating islands, water as far as the eye could see all around us. |

Fifteen divers came from around the world to compete on 4/2/12 to qualify for the 2012 World Series. It was a spectacular event which saw four contestants through to the finals. It was won by David Colturi from the USA. The spectators looked as though they were having the time of their lives.
